Scale/Trail FJ CC

So yet again I redid my CC. This time im sticking with scale since its soo much fun to build and run. I went with the TCS proto chassis plates. I also was on here recently in search for a good esc for the cc. I decided on the Traxxas EVX-2 16.8v. Its a major improvement to the duratrax one. Hardly any stall that ive seen. It definitly works great for scale. On to the pics!

This was the mock up:

And this is what it looks like now, I made the roof basket out of an old wild bird suet feeder. Here are the pics from trail riding today at a local park.

Sorry for all the pics...was excited to share the new CC. Enjoy!

Unfortunately you had to stick 2.2's on there =(

Otherwise it still looks pretty damn good! Any chassis shots?

Good job for doing something that more people should do!

p.s. MOA's can't be scalers....I kid I kid.

09xD 08-05-2009 03:36 PM

LOL believe it or not when its running you really dont see the moa's and I never seem to pay much attention to them. I dont have any chassis shots yet cause its kinda messy, but ill take some anyways later on for everyone to use as reference. The 2.2's were all I have at the moment but im thinking of possibly getting some 1.9's for it.

i really like that body and the color. good job.

i dont think that spare tire would do you much good, though : )

salgon 08-05-2009 05:46 PM

Body.

Great truck!!
Where did you get the body?

brees 08-05-2009 05:52 PM

scale

this is as close to scale as my rig ever gets. just an emaxx body. i did, however, get to try the new banebots, droop suspension, and homemade bent links on some real rocks today. woot! it did pretty good

Brees, that body is not bad looking at all...I like it!

Salgon - Its a New Bright FJ Cruiser body. You can find New Bright rc's at walmart or toys r us or on ebay. Its hard plastic and pretty detailed. But you have to buy the whole rc...generally anywhere from 35-50 depending where you get it. I have been thinking about trading it or selling it, I like it, but I want something different. The color is a flat beige.

The spare on top is worthless lol, its on there for the look til I can find someone who has a spare cheap wheel and tire laying around that is close to scale. I am on the search for an f350 or a hummer HX or original hummer. Thanks for all the comments!

that one rig alone with the 2.2 wheels and tires has made up my mind. I'm getting one.

You should, and the TCS chassis is really nice too, to anyone who gets this chassis, take your time and do it right, I had to make 2 different skid plates because I miss drilled the first and my links were crooked.

Here is the requested pic of the chassis, kinda crappy but ill get better ones this afternoon while im out crawling.

Looking clean! Those axle guards fit right on there huh? I want to ditch my current project and pick up this chassis soon! Plus it's pretty cheap too.

You know those 1.9's will not only look better, but should be less stress on the drivetrain and maybe reduce rear axle stall =)

I bet nobody would care if you bring this truck on trail runs. It's just the rccrawler folks that are behind the monitor acting like douche bags.

Btw, those Tamiya plugs gotta go! Keep up the good work.

brees 08-06-2009 03:12 PM

that chassis is pretty sweet.

nascarkeith 08-06-2009 07:10 PM

That is a great looking rig. The cc looks pretty good as a scaler. The body, paint, and whole concept all seem to fit together really well. You gotta love the $3 birdfeeder roof rack. I have one on my Pajero.

09xD 08-06-2009 09:45 PM

Thanks all! yeah the classic tamiya plugs are what I had at the time...soon going to be deans or traxxas plugs...I love the $3 rack keith...why pay proline $20+ for the same thing? Glad everyone enjoys it...I just ordered a hard body jeep as a side project to hide everything in it to give it a cleaner look...then hopefully trade in the 2.2's for some 1.9's.

cdw327 08-08-2009 09:54 AM

did all the stock cc parts bolt right up to that chassis?

2.2's actually reduce the stall from my experience.

They do, extremely reduce the stall, its still there, but a lot less pronounced.

tyler ax10 08-09-2009 09:37 PM

yes great set up!"thumbsup""thumbsup"

09xD 08-10-2009 06:28 AM

Yeah I dont have as much of a stall issue with this set up as when I had the stock CC wheel combo. I just ordered a jeep body so that will be the deciding factor as to wether ill sell these and get 1.9s or keep them. Once the jeep is done ill have the fj up for sale FYI. As far as stock parts, yes everything bolts right up with no problem, you just have to make your own skid plate. Other than that it was very easy to transfer everything over. I really enjoy it with this set up and it still crawls so well.

Fobby 08-10-2009 12:31 PM

I thought 1.9's would really reduce stall compared to running a much larger diameter tire. I assume it would take more effort to spin larger tires. Something like over gearing.

But anyways, 1.9's will still look better =)

Btw, nice rack! Proline's rack is ugly, people make them uglier by mounting spot lights right on top of it. Just because it's 'hobby' the prices sky rocket. Good job finding a better looking, stronger, and much cheaper rack.
