a personal challenge to myself

i have a challenge for myself. i want to build a small lightweight crawler for personal use for under $200, i think i can do this for under 150, but would like to accomplish this with $200 for a little breathing room. through ebay i have managed to find a cc for under $50 arr i have not purchased this yet due to lack of funds. so right now i would like to get some ideas for electronic gear. i have batteries, a chasis and some potential radios, already.just need to figure out the rest. i plan to keep a running tally on my total expenses through this build if i go through with this.

found that shortly after i posted.
i think i may scavenge the electrics from my propulse, at least the radio, and maybe since it can handle 2 decent motors the esc. the battery from it will be used

If you need a good esc, I just installed a Traxxas EVX-2 esc in mine since its dual battery dual motor, and its awesome. I think it would do good and ive seen them used for sale here for as little as $45.

Read around this section and you will quickly find out that these things need 9-cell minimum, preferably 12-cell or 3s lipo. The motors are just gutless at lower voltage. Another cheap upgrade are the banebots 390 motors, mine were $13 shipped for both. They are a lot better than stock, but you still need the high volts to wake them up.

i actually have 2 of the battery packslinked below, may grab another soonish that will get my 14.4 volts without addint to much weight. not bad packs either. lightweight and small.

I grabbed some of those 1200 and 1400 pro-pulse nimh packs at ratshack for $5. They work pretty good in my minis.
