O.k. So I've made up my mind I'm going to get one. I already have an MRC and love it. I was going to buy a Comp Crawler, (and I still am, but for 50 bucks how could I not get this thing)

At any rate, I'm going to get the ARTR version and add my own electrics.
The question I have is what gear do these trucks like.
As in, which servos/motor/esc do these rigs seem to like.
I was thinking of a set of Hitch 645's for the servo's
and... I'm at a loss on the rest. I know it comes with 2 380 motors, but are the worth a damn, or do they need to be replaced immediatly

Also, what are the other things that are gonna need to be upgraded/replace immediatly (links, shocks... )

stock motors, axle idler gears and axle cups, plastic links, tires, and wheelbase all suck. actually, the tires are ok.

i run the EVX 14.4 ESC with an 11.1 lithium ion pack

$3.50 banebot 390's (huge improvement)

a resistor block on the front motor to cancel a little bit of the clod stall. a bigger pinion will do the same thing

one of those hi tech 645's up front with no saver (i ran a second in the back, but ended up just locking out the rear)

traxxas 106.5 mm steel links (which i bent myself) as lower links

traxxas 118mm upper links

steel idler gears in axles ( i would like to go all steel, but i will upgrade as needed)

stock traxxas emaxx shocks set up for droop

traxxas 102mm REVO links for front steering and rear lock-out

moab 2.2 tires on stock rims

i am not saying my setup is right for everyone (or anyone, for that matter) but the performance is much much better than stock.

excluding the ESC, and servo which i had lying around..... i have about 150.00 (inlcuding the 50.00 purchase price). as much as a love this little thing and all the tweaking i can do... to be honest i wish i had just bought some clod axles, or a shafty. i do, however , like it better than my old MRC.

aftermarket for the cliff climber is extremely weak as far as i can tell. and please dont waste your time with the DTX aluminum parts (cept the bearing carriers). the guys on this forum have been a huge help with ideas, and advice on upgrades. so read up on the old posts.
