Default bigger motors

i got to thinking and then i looked at it and i think if you were to stretch to 12.5" (move front and back axles out so the wb is 12.5) and then mount all four shocks to the upper links. then you can cut the shock mount off at the axle and then you can fit bigger motors. i'm not sure if it will work don't have money to try it, but i figured i would through the idea out for someone that is looking for a way to get better motors on there cliff climber.

hmmmm......Couple 55T on a CC. If the idea that i'm thinking about and 73fordhighboy is running the numbers on, doesn't work.....I'll call fire on this one and hope I don't kill my neato little toy. Do 380 and 540 motors have the same spacing between mount holes?

i was thinking a couple axial 55t motors

i did some measuring and the stock motors are 1.5" long and the axial motors are 2". so if you move the shocks to the upper links and then cut the shock mount off at the axle. you will gain about 5/8" then you will have more then anuff room. you will have to drill your pinion gears out alittle because the shaft is 3mm i think

Look around, running a 540 motor has been done before. You need to run at least a 23T pinion to mesh the gears.

You have to run a 23T or larger pinion because the diameter of the pinion pulls the motor away from the axle case.

Check the diameter of the stock versus the motor you want to throw in.
That's the bigger headache to fix.

The 540 sized motor would be mounted way out on flimsy molded plastic.
Just an opinion, but your asking for motor alignment and gear mesh issues.

On the "Possible 10T pinion" post, I have 9t and 10t 0.6M pinions in my mailbox today or Monday to begin some testing.
Should give the stock motor more torque, and the Banebots even more.
Will make Holmes 454s, gear crushers.

i think im going with the 70t 380 redcat motors. when this little critter ends up getting bully axles, i'll put the 540's in there. wouldnt the 540's destroy the "ring rear" and such? like big block power on some 39.5 boggers with toothpick dana 44's! plus i like the 4 link & axle mounted shocks. i admit im still very new to rc crawling

Dammit, you're new too? I would guess that if you are careful to not get the tires in a bind that a 540 motor would be ok, but the second you bound up....rrrriiiiipppppppp! no mas teeth.

I took my CC to my kids soccer game today. There are some nice big rocks and some large river rock paths. The stall is HORRRRRRRRIBLE on these things. Granted, I only bought it because it was uber cheap and I needed an extra toy for my buddies to play with between rounds (We compete in 1:1 crawling), so they wouldn't bug me for my axial. Nevertheless, I see some possibilities with the little bucket.Even if I could get rid of 75% of the stall I would be happy guy. I think metal gears and 540 motors would be alright. The extra weight down low couldn't hurt either.

Hey bud, let me know where you're getting the motors. Everywhere I look, they're outta stock. Keep us posted on how they work as well.

the 540s can and have been done with no problems as far as i know i was the first to do it and dont know of anyothers out there right now but i could be wrong. im running twin integy 50 turn lathes on it with it twin sticked and its awsome you have good low end torque and unbeleivable wheelspin you will deffinently need to be ready to get rid of at least the counter and idler gear to the metals im still running the plastic diff gear with no failures on it, you do have to watch the tires if you get one bound up real good then yes you will have gear problems i have stripped one of the metal idler gears doing so but duratrax was good to me and waranty it out for me but as long as you pay attention and drive respectably then you have nothing to wory about.

here is a link to a thread with pics of my truck with the 540s on it.
