Default tncrawler's 12" wb build thread

made some new links and stretched her out! have to get a few clamps to mount the back shocks om the links. well i have been asked a few times to do a build thread so i guess i will start it now....

mods so far:
proline rockstar!
lowered all electronics into the chassis
sleeved all steering arms with alum. tubing
losi comp claws(blues)
o-ringed the dogbones
metal gears
extended the wb to 12"
scary steering on the rear(or lockouts...whatever im in the mood for!)
clocked axles
mounted shocks on the top links
painted wheels(bl coming soon!)

before:

after:

next i will do a step by step on installing the bearing set, 12t pinion on front, resistor on front motor, and share set up ideas with weight distribution and tire foams and weights!

the bottom links are 5 inch from eye to eye traxxas revo pushrods and the top links are 4.75 inch extended and sleeved stock links. i have about 8 inches of flex right now but that may be to much. we will see how it does!

well my bearings came in and my losi beadlocks are on the way! i am hoping to pick up my new body tomorrow as well so when i get a hour or two i will start the bearing swap and paint tha body.

any ideas on the paint scheme...........
i thought about maybe a digital camo or a metal plated look with rivets....but i cant make up my mind..

oh also have metal gears comin so i will swap those out while i have it tore down!!!!

here are a few pics as of now:

got the shocks all buttoned up and adjusted them for about 7.5" of flex. works great and suprisingly the stretched wb helped the stall tremendously!!!

sets up a little in the back but i will just adjust that out with the new body!! what do you think so far???

that thing is knarly. how well does it side hill? i went to the local hobby town out here bought a bunch of random suspension bits trying to do something. ended up with this articulation monstrosity-that would "inch-worm" on the flat rocky terrain and roll on side hill moves. arghhh! so now im trying to make my own chassis. hope it works! those 108mm shocks are going to be the death of me!

thanks highboy the side hilling is actually ok. but it could be better. i am using proline stage 2 memory foams and they are a little on the soft side but it is tolerable. when i get my beadlocks i am gonns start fooling around with different foams. good luck with the the new chassis but i dont think you need one... i love how i have mine set up with the stock chassis and even the shitty stock shocks.it works really well
