Default My C10CC

Hey guys here's some closeups and a link to some vids of the cliff climber I built and sold to my brother to get him into the crawlin scene. It has banebot RS390's, 9t pinions, custom 20 degree bent links putting wb at 12", all metal gears, outputs and cvd,s, bearings, Venom creeper shocks limited to 4 1/4" c/w the duratrax bigbore shock tower add on, axial beadlock rims with lizards and creeper memory foams star cut, evx esc, ubec, 2200mah 30c 2s lipo x 2, tp mg996r servo, dig switch with micro servo and a proline chevy c10 body(pretty amazing how much better this made the climber look). I don't know what the hell my bro is doing though because in 2 days he has blown both counter gears:-(. I suggested that he dialed down the throttle epa to so there's not so much torque on the drive train......guess your not driving it unless your breakin sh*t. Wonder if duratrax would warranty them??

Yeah, it definaitly doesn't plow trees like my old jacked 79 ford f250 lariat sitting on 35's but it sure is cheaper to run, lol.
Thanks for the nice comments guys, this was a fun build but I just gotta figure out a way to stop it from chewing up metal counter gears.

i wish i could help you on the countergear issue. i have yet to tear them up. i have twisted up some axles. do you think it happens in the forward to reverse manuvers or slip to traction? in like wheel hop type of situations?

I'm sorta thinking it's from him going foward to reverse as it's like a rocket in reverse because of the slight delay, causes him to full throttle reverse though it does start to stop first. I have seen him hop it pretty good as well so it could be from that. I'm using the rs390 which I think has a little more torque than the rs395's so maybe that's saving them. How hard are you on you rig?

Oh I know the tire are shit but thats all I had kickin around when I was building it, I'm trying to convince my brother to take my sipped hammers that i'm changing out for some chisels on my ax10 but he doesn't want smaller tires. I'm going to have to just mount them one day and see what he thinks.

A little update on the gears, I contacted Duratrax about the gears and this is the email I got back from them:(needless to say I'm very happy with the service)

Thank you for contacting Product Support.

I have entered a replacement order for 2 gears.

Note: they are currently on back order so when they arrive will go out.

If you encounter issues after replacing them I suggest you send it in for inspection.

im only using a single 8.4v nimmer battery. so they gear stress might not be as severe? i have also dailed back my drag brake some to save axles

What 9t pinions did you go with on this build? Are they the brass ones from Bp hobbies?

Yes they are. Worked out great just have to bore them out to 2.3mm from 2mm.

I used a #44 drill bit first then a #42 second, you remove the grub screw from the pinion gear and place it in the chuck of drill 1 as centered as possible then you put the #44 drill bit into drill 2. Run drill 1 in at a medium speed and then run the drill bit in the opposite direction in drill 2 through the pinion as quickly as possible, I found with the first 2 I did I went a little to slow and the hole ended up a little oblong so I just went quickly with the last 2 pinions and they ended up nearly perfect. Follow up the first hole with the #42 bit and go quickly again. Hope that makes sense.
