Duratrax cliff climber upgrade Hey iv got a duratrax cliff clibmer that I want to upgrade What are some up grades that are good and that are for a decent price? |
I just got one as well, and don't want to spend too much either. First improvement you should make is new links. The stock plastic ones flex and will break I'm sure. Tires are 90% of traction, so good tires, suited to your climbing type, is $$ well spent. So far we're still pretty much stock, but improved performance for only a few bucks. Other mods./bling can come later... |
Its been a while since I had a cliff climber but this is the thread for mine http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/duratrax-cliff-climber/177478-cliff-climber-rock-racer-style-standard-6-cell-stick-packs.html I did several inexpensive things that made a big difference and was still running stock tires."thumbsup" |
I've done my main links in 5mm steel, and extended the chassis at the same time. Added some longer, stiffer shocks... Next would be an alum. servo mount and steel steering links. I also did a partial bearing upgrade, full bearing set to come. Later I'll add steel gears and output cups. Parts are on order and will probably wait until I blow the plastic gears, or have fun trying... I'd recommend replacing the plastic output cups for anyone, as it seems to be the weakest point in the drivetrain. I've put a set of Proline badlands on it and they are great. I'm sure there is better for rocks, or mud, but the Badlands seem to be a good 'overall' tire. |
I gave up on the dcc. I bought a creeper |

Re: Duratrax cliff climber upgrade i dont know, I have 4 other crawlers and I still like playing and modding my CC..... I just made some links extended the chasis, longer shocks, locked out the rear steering, i had some 2.2's on it but put 1.9's on it, just because I them laying around and I found it seems to steer better. Now Im playing with running a 3s lipo but Im going to upgrade the electronics asap anyway... M. |
