Servo buying... which one

so i have a stock Futuba S3003 Servo and its pretty craptastic. I was looking for a stronger servo and this one seems better than the 40 oz-in my futuba has

Hitec HS-645MG High-Torque 2BB Metal Gear Servo

specs are as follows

SPECS: Speed: 0.24 sec/60° at 4.8V
0.20 sec/60° at 6.0V
Torque: 106.93 oz-in at 4.8V (7.7 kg-cm)
133.31 oz-in at 6.0V (9.6 kg-cm)
Length: 1.59" (40.6mm)
Width: 0.77" (19.8mm)
Height: 1.48" (37.8mm)
Weight: 2.11oz (60g)

the price is 35.99 from towerhobbies. So is this a decent servo?

Thats a good servo but you might as well spend the money for 5995 cause your gonna strip the brass gear in it too.

i was afraid someone would say that. how much more we talking here for the 5995???

i would get the 5645 for a little more, its a digital servo wich is better than the analog 645, it also has more tq iirc. If you go to servocity.com they have all their hitec servos on sale.

cd13-except for the fact that the 5995 is about 3x as much as a 645.

ive been using my 5645 through my emaxx, my nitro buggy, and now my crawler without any issues

I have several 2.2 rigs that have been running 645s for a long time with zero failure. I like the analog version just fine unless you have a radio that allows you to adjust the servo end points. I wouldn't use the 645 on a Super unless it was a temporary on the rear steering. I would recommend a stronger servo for a full on comp rig. I have a 5955 on mine.

well here is the digital one mentioned

http://servocity.com/html/hs-5645mg_digital_torque.html

not bad but do i need the 90 degree one or a 180 degree one?

i cant see me being a hardcore crawler( not yet at;east ) so im stuck on buying the 5645 or the 645s

boostamante,its about 120.00

The 5645 has Three metal gears, brass I believe. the 5955 and 5995 are Titanium gear set.But everyone has an opinion,so say the Futaba RS403PR is the servo.Just get a good one and be done with it.Nothing worse then having a servo die in the middle of a comp."thumbsup"[

I'm a chaep bast*&^ so I was on that servocity site looking. They say the 5995 is discontinued and replaced by a 5980, it's available in two versions. Steel gear and titainium gear with a $40 price differance. Looked up the price of replacement gears for the 5995, there only $8, so could you buy the steel gear servos and a set of titainium replacements for less then the whole tg version! And you would have a set of steel replacement gears when you were done!

What are you installing it on? If it's for a super rig I say get the 5955TG. I worked my way up to it. I started with the 645MG. I felt it was too slow so I went to the 5645. I still thought it was too slow and I stripped 2 sets of gears. Now I have 2 5955TG's on my rig and have had no problems since. I even went and put one on my 2.2 rig.
