opinions on tower pro mg995 servos

hi, i see that some guys are running tower pro mg995 servos on their crawlers. how does this tower pro servo compare to others out on the market?

not really sure how it compares to others but, i do run one on my rig and it works really well, for $20 you cant go wrong. i heared there was a tower pro upgrade to this servo for like $25 dollars.

They are budget begineer servos.

As long as you don't expect them to rack up with high end servos you'll like them.

As compared to the Hitec 645Mg or 5645Mg. Tower pros are more durable powerful and affordable. Or at least they have been for me.

There is a better Tower Pro servo out now. It's the MG946R and they are cheaper for me to sell at this time. Check the Vendors section. I stopped carrying the MG995's and MG945's. They where costing me the same as the MG946R's. The one thing that hurts the Tower Pro's is the Top Gear Case. They seem to wear out fast sometime. Which will casue the gears to seem stripped. Just replace the case and your golden again.

the tower pro mg995 for me seemed to keep striping gears so i swicthed to mg945 they have been working great mine are over 9 months old and still work good
i recently got a set of tower pro mg946r which are a couple bucks more but no glicthen at all

what do you guys consider to be the best bang for the buck re: a higher-end servo?

What servo arms fit TowerPro MG servos

What pattern do the TowerPro MG 995's use?
Great torque, but it buckles the cheap arms that come with them.
I tried fitting a Hitec arm on with no luck. Is it Futaba pattern?
thx

I think it is futaba compatible.

They are good for the money, but the gearmesh is pretty knarly. They draw a lot of amperage for the power they make, but the holding torque is better because of it. Still good for the price, does the job well for crawling.

Futaba is Correct. I carry a couple of different length Servo horns to fit these.
