Default hitec 645

I have look all over on how to remove the pot from a hitec 645 and nothing. I want to turn it in to a winch for my truck but can't get it from turning. I get it to stop turn the radio off and then back on again and it starts moving. I need to find out what is needed to remove the pot and what to put back to think it is centered. Please help it is driving me crazy.

Most are doing like posted in this thread.

But i'm curious if replacing the pot with resistors would be better, and if so, then what resistors.
