Huh?

What is a standard brushed motor lead?

What is a lead?

What are pnes?

IMO, install a deans plug on the end of the red and black wires of the Sidewinder. Then install wires on the motor (preferably red for positive and black for negative), and on the other end, install a deans plug. Then plug the two deans together.

You need to get some 4mm bullet plugs. I carry them in my store here or you can google it. Just about any airplane shop, LHS, or car place should have them. I really like the Castle plugs, very solid connection.

Bullet plugs make for a really clean look, too.

How did you hook the motor up? What batteries?

the motor leads that i have fit in there i just did not push them in enough, i am running a fully charged 1500ma 8 cell pack, and it sees as though it has no power, it has a 65t motor in it so i know it has plenty of motor power and battery power, has any one else had this happen?? thanks for your help

Put down the Red Bull, and maybe we can help you solve your problem. What do you mean when you say you got your motor leads connected? What kind of connector? You put the motor leads in where? We need more info to help you. Pictures might be even better.

Get some 4mm bullet connectors. The little grey metal tamiya style bullets are useless and will not make a solid connection to the sidewinder females.

The motor leads that i have fit into the sidewinder, they are too big to fit in all the way, however they do fit in about 3/4 of the way and are snug so I am assuming they are making a solid connection. Should i just replace the stock leads with deans plugs? That way i know that i have a good connection? It seems like a good connection but that could be the problem.

Bad assumption. You're not making a good connection. I'll second JRH's suggestion to buy some 4mm motor leads. I run the CC ones and really like them. Much easier to disassemble than the Dean's plugs and a cleaner look. That said, if you've got Deans handy and don't want to mess with the others, go for it, and it'll work fine.

Yeah, you could do that. Just cut them all the same length.

Might as well cut enough wire off so that you can just plop the wire with plug onto your brushed motor.

No idea if that would void the warranty. I did it with no problems, but put CC connectors on once I realized how much cooler they were. I'd wait and go the hobby shop and order them. JRH can probably give you a better answer.

I have the same problem with sidewinder esc's. My 4mm bullet connectors on the motors are too long for sidewinder female connectors. Why it surprised me is because the same connectors fit fine with a mamba max.
The female connectors on the sidewinder are 11.5mm deep. The ones on mamba max are 16mm deep.

You might try to find connectors with the correct length for the sidewinder (I bet the castle ones are a good fit) or just lengthen the isolation layer on the motor connectors.

I will be doing the latter because I'm too lazy to resolder 6 connectors.

Does no one direct solder anymore?
Where all the pureists at?
I even solder my car stereo installs

EDIT: Robb- I always had to run my crawlers motor polarity backwards.
(+ ESC wire to - motor tab, - ESC wire to + motor tab)

I do sometimes. I just take my crawler apart too much to mess with it, esp given the kinds of low amperages we deal with.
