Default 2s or 3s lipo battery?

ok... maybe this should be posted in the newbie section.. anyways, I am trying to finalize my electronic shopping list for two Trail scale trucks.

This battery is going to be used inside a Tamiya Hilux standard 540 motor temporarily until the new Trail truck kit from RC4WD is here. Then, the Hilux is going back to shelf. Everything except the motor are going to the new truck (haven't decide on the motor yet).

Should I buy a 2s lipo or 3s lipo?

sidewinder ESC
CC BEC
Hitec 5955 x(1)
Hitec 645 x(1) for shifting
Some LEDs

thx

thx guys... but can a standard "stock" 540 motor (the one came with Tamiya hilux) handles 11.1v or 3s lipo?

it can but is longevity could be shortened. I have been running an OLD silvercan with a 3s for 6 months with no issues in one of my scalers.

Trying not to post new threads, but what does the "s" stand for in 2s and 3s? Does this designate the number of cells?

the number of cells or parallel circuts in a series. the s stand for series... I think
So as far as figuring voltage, yes.

3s, and good choice on battery. You will want to keep the gearing pretty low and watch the trigger finger with stock motors, they can burst some hefty amps under throttle. What discharge rate did you select, 30C?

Is a 2s a good choice for a 55T and Castle Sidewinder w/ BEC and a casual crawler? Not many comps in my immediate area.

Just a follow up; if eventually running brushless (i.e. crawlmaster) instead of the 55T, would the 3s be a better choice?

2s would last longer but less power, 3s would have more power but it would not last as long so you have to find out if you want it to last or go fast
