running a reciever pack well I was going to

hey guys I have a question I built a wk crawler and I'm running a lrp runner reverse esc with a 55 t integy anyways I am running a stock traxxas 2055 steering servo I know not much torque but right now it still a budget build.Anyway my ? is I want to run a reciever pack to give a little more power to the servo and yes I did search this topic first and found out I need to pull the red wire out of the esc plug which I did so you don't burn out the bec but when I did this and plugged it back in I had no power at all so I take it this does not work for all esc's so is there any other option for running a reciever pack thanks for any help.
