Default Traxxas TRX connectors...

I have just now been exposed to the TRX plugs and I can honestly say I am very impressed.

I may even convert all my stuff from Deans to TRX as they are easier to plug/unplug and solder.

Does anyone know the specs compared to Deans?

I've heard of people using them for 100+ amps with no problems, but a quick googling found a site that said they were rated up to 30 amps. 30 Amps seems low, though, the actual contact area seems pretty similar to deans. They are much easier to solder/plug, I agree. I'd be interested in seeing how many amps they can handle, but I bet they're fine. If I remember right, Deans are only rated for something like 75 amps, and people pull more than that through them, too.

I got the TRX plugs on my batteries and they seem to do well with a 3 cell 5400mah lipo and two HH Cobalt 7T motors. I'm heavy on the throttle too.
At least nothings getting to hot anyways. However my motors have Deans on them.

I also saw where Trinity is advertising a plug (Iplug by Starcell) that is a direct replacement and fit to the TRX...

Maybe it's better?

They seem like a great plug to me. I just don't want to swap over everything I have. Additionally, if I need to borrow a pack on the rocks I can't if everybody else uses deans.

You could always make a nice little adaptor lead. I like the look of the trx conectors but I just don't want to spend the money and time converting all my models.

I'm going to be running all of my 1/10's on them, but the Mini's and Crawlers are getting Deans due to the smaller size.

I hate the traxxas plugs, I think the deans are much easier to deal with, and I have never had a heat or current issue with them, I would prefer power poles to to traxxas. just my .02

So whats your reasoning behind hating them?
I just wanna make sure its not just because you just do.

I used to work at a hobby shop, and when the new rustler/stampede/bandits came out I had to solder many trx connectors to to new batts for customers. I do not like the way that they are designed, I dont like the fact that the brass contacts are just clipped into the housing, and i think that it is just a way for a company to make more money on something thats already been acomplished, and for an inferior design at that. just my opinion, you do not have to agree, just my experience.

One thing I DO like about the Deans connectors is that they smell really good when you heat them up too much when soldering them. (not that it's happened or anything)
