| ESC for airplanes and for cars
I'm curious to know which is the difference from an esc specifically designed for airplanes, for boats and for cars. For example CC produces dedicated brushless esc for airplanes which are far different in their look from Mamba Max and Sidewinder but I cannot figure out in what they differ internally. Don't think it is only a matter of maximum current. JRH, you who smoke electrionics since the dawn of human beings, can you solve the mistery ? Thanks Filippo |

plane and boat ESC's don't have the same brakes as the car ESC's. the plane esc's that list brake are only for either stopping a motor, (for a folding prop to fold for instance) or to freewheel. there are no adjustments. Boats are about the same, no programmable brakes, no drag brake settings. ya gots ta get a car ESC for a car. |

Airplane = No brakes, no reverse, different motor startup programs. Car= Great brakes, reverse, and programs for high torque take offs. Boat= Brakes either full on or full off |

So the esc for a car has something more than those for airplanes. Can a Mamba Max be used in an airplane or it is not feasible due to its heavy weight ? Thanks Filippo |

With air VS car controllers there are very big differences in construction. A 25 amp Car ESC will take 100 amp bursts, whereas a 25 amp air or boat ESC may only take 45amp bursts. The controlling software is different, as well as the startup algorithms and hardware. The only expeptions may be Shulze controllers, where they just have one design that is used on all ESCs. Do you have a specific item and application in question? |
