Default Rooster Crawler (rolls backwards on climbs)

I have a simple AX-10 with 55 turn motor and stock gearing. Weight bias is to the front. I have noticed this issue happening more lately, but it has always happened some.

While climbing, if i let off the throttle the truck will roll backwards 90% of the time. The brake isn't there. If going down a steep decline, the brake is awsome 100% of the time.

I have reset the ESC. The only change I made (when it seemed to get worse) was to adjust my acceleration forward to 100% and I may have increased the throttle endpoint to have available max wheelspeed.

Any thoughts on how to get the Rooster to hold when I stop while going up a climb? Thanks

Did you try reversing the throttle servo(TX) and motor leads

No. I think I'm following you... but help me out... does a motor hold better in one direction versus the other?

if your servo is operating in reverse mode (TX) it thinks your crawler is going backwards. When you reverse it (TX) to normal(forward) now your motor is wired backwards...
your motor should be wired so yellow is + and blue is - on the motor.

My motor is wired correctly. I think I figured it out (mostly). I reset the ESC again, but this time, I first set the throttle channel to reverse. After I reset the ESC, it operates in the correct directions (in reverse) but the brake hold better in the uphill direction. It still isn't complete lockup, but much better.

This may be a stupid one, but have you tried adjusting the throttle trim? Maybe it's biased just a slight amount to reverse and causing the ESC to let loose when trying to roll backwards?

A 5yr old got ahold of my TQ3 and I had something like this afterward. Fixing the trim resolved the issue...

I agree on the trim thing, that would cause the problem if your trim is just a little off.

I tried the trim. That wasn't it. Although if you adjust the forward trim to the point where the ESC just starts to buzz, it locks up on hill real nice. It's not a good way to get the result though.

Can you set your drag brake higher?

Rooster Crawlers don't have an adjustable drag brake. AFAIK
