| has anyone seen those little flashlights that you crank up to recharge the batts in.. do you think it would be possible to take one apart and rig it up to your truck somehow to keep the batts charged while driving.. http://www.smarthome.com/92071.html Last edited by alaskantraxxas; 07-07-2008 at 12:57 PM. | Conservation of energy. No machinery is more than 100% efficient. It would take more energy to turn the generator than the amount of energy it would produce in return. On the other hand,in breaking situations the motor is turned into a generator and on some ESCs this will charge the battery a little but the amount is negligible. Good thought though |

yeah.. i think your right cuz i tried crankin one and it was kind of tuff to turn.. but maybe with the right gearing it can work.. i might have to try it sometime.. lol

No, Mic is right, most eficcient generator will give you about 85% return, the cheap chinese flashlight generator will maybe give you 65% depending on the mechanical drag of the gears in it batteries ar usually 50 to 60% efficient in accepting charge (the rest turns to heat) so the ammount of effort you would spend cranking it would give you a total of -75% return Now if you used one of the onboard starters like the revo has, and had a voltage gauge hooked to the main pack, so when the main pack started to get low, it would crank up and run the nitro motor which you had hooked to a electric motor as a genereator, you might be able to make a hybrid, but I could see controls being an issue

you have to relalize that those flash lights use led's which require very little power. for axample i havve a tactical flash light that uses an led which uses only 6v of power and it puts out about 250 lumens of light, not only that the run time on the light at full power is about 12 hours.

I hate to burst your Bubble but most of those POS Chinese "crank flash lights" or the "shake and charge" ones have absolutely no recharging mechanism in them, its all looks for sales. and ya Mic is right, but if you mange to get more than a 100% efficiency you better not tell the oil company's (you might disappear)
