I think 27 is for surface use (ground and water) while 72 is for air. I could be wrong though, never had a boat or plane. Anyone want to confirm?

27mhz is for everything, 72mhz is for air only. 27mhz is everything because we dont want Wal-Mart planes causing interference. |

Figured I would add a detail in here JUST IN CASE, dont forget, 75mhz is also ground only. Also, I have seen 27mhz on planes, that just the cheapy level of radio. 75 is ground, and as above 72 is air, using the wrong one for the wrong thing, you can promise at one point some guy is going to be head hunting, lol. |

Here's a good frequency list: http://rcsource.hobbypeople.net/faqs/freqlist.htm Before I switched to DSM this year, I used to run all my R/C stuff on 50 MHz but I'm a licensed amateur radio operator so I can do this. |

I heard a rumor that if you get caught using 72 for anything other than air, you will get a hefty fine (~$1000). But I don't see how they can control that , frequency police. It is in everyone's best intrest to leave the 72mhz to the planes/helis. if you cause a nearby plane to go down 'cause of your radio, it could be fatal. |
