any more throw out of a servo? is there a way to get more throw out of a servo? i have a jr z8800t and i would like more throw out of it if possible, OR another servo? My axial can handle a sharper turning radius but my servo wont go there! any info appreciated thanks |
A longer servo horn would give you a bit more throw... As far as modding the inside of a servo??? Hmmm have to look into that myself.. |
What radio do you have? |
there is a thing called a "servo stretcher", it allows you to adjust the endpoints of the servo up to 90* each direction for a total throw of 180*. they work on all servos, they just plug between servo and receiver. http://servocity.com/html/180o_servo_stretcher.html 19.99 http://servocity.com/assets/images/N...hematics_2.jpg http://servocity.com/assets/images/a...clearpixel.gif |
has anyone used one of those servo stretchers yet? any personal experiences? |
don't most steering servos have a hard stop in them ? i don't see how that servo strecher thing could work |
adjust the epa's on your radio get a longer servo horn and mount the servo a little higher |
i opened the servo up and it doesn't hit the hard stop there is more room to go, the epas on my radio are all at max settings, my servo is digital i dont think the stretcher would work unless im wrong. might just have to buy a different servo.... thanks any more ideas? thanks guys and i just have a 2 channel futaba have to look at which one it is |
Get a longer servo arm...jeebus. I have an 8800T and it turns the same as a 8711 I have. Post pics of your set up...likely its in your steering design, not the servo. |

you guys are all quick to point out that something is possibly wrong with my setup nothing is wrong! i have wonderful steering, linkage, servo, and futaba 2 channel radio! they all worked wonderfully! I have a butt load of steering! I would just like to get more degree than the amount of degree that this servo has. simply because there is alot more room for more steering! i have cvds, rcp max knuckles and c. i dont know if there is a way to modify this type of servo or not! |
Are there any stops molded into the knuckles or axles that you could grind down a bit?? |
I just want to share my personal experience with my own greed for steering. ON my gwagon I have the cvd's, high clearance knuckles, etc. I wanted more throw..I wanted pigeonfarmboy type throw, lol.. I installed a longer servo horn (1-1/8" center to center of holes) and it was perfect. However, it seems to really tax my servo (towerpro mg995) and goes through my battery much quicker as it seems to work really hard to get the full throw. I'll be putting my regular servo horn back on before my next outing... so beware what you ask for... |

I did have to bend the lower link to clear the axle housing. Also a Losi Servo arm wouldn't give me as much steering as the slightly longer Dynamite piece (have better SLP and others on order). Also radio makes a huge difference. My old MX-3 only had 130% max epa, now my DX3R has 150% EPA's. |
well i figured it out! it was my radio that was limiting my travel! I hooked up a traxxas tq2 radio system my buddy had given me and bam! I have so much steering throw now its not even funny! well it is thanks for those that helped me out! i didn't know that a radio system had variences in steering or such. thanks again |
