Default Switch inline with servo

So I have a servo set up as a winch and it has very little creep on it, I can trim it out but it will go back to creeping after 3 minutes. It's nothing bad but its just an annoyance. What I want to do is add a 3in servo extension to it and wire an on/off switch to the extension. This way when I'm not using the servo it will be turned off and when I do need it, I can just turn it on. I just want to make sure I have this straight though before I actually do it.

1. take the 3in extension
2. cut the red wire
3. solder the switch into the red wire (does it matter which way? the way I see it, it doesn't)
4. cover all exposed wire
5. plug extension into RX and servo and be done

Thanks
