Default battery suggestion

well i have a question for everyone how long of a run time do you think i could expect out of a 9.6 volt 1400 mah 2/3a cell pack running 45t motors, 645mg servo, micro switch dig, cc bec and cc mamba max and or would it be in my best interest to cough up the dough for lipo. thanks for the help with my addiction

That would really vary on your driving style, comp use, or bashing, how much you use dig, etc.
Go lipo you won't regret it.

Fair enough on the lipo suggestion but the trouble is where do you put them that's low enough to take advantage of the clod design?
lipo's are mostly flat, long and designed for the fuse of an airplane.
we need lipos in a hump that can be put on the axles of 2.2 or inside the wheel of supers.
I'll be running 6-8 cells of 1500 2/3A NiMH on my berg.

Umm... you can get Lipos that are tiny now-days, they all aren't long. Check out MaxAmps, they have their lipo's on a number of comp rigs... BENDER for one.

Plus Lipo's dont have the weight of Ni packs either. I put mine on top of my switch box. Then its protected by the chassis.

which chassis are you running? on my slingshot, i got my electronics mounted similar to the kamikaze's zero chassis. this leaves enough room for a small 3c lipo to fit between the electronics and skid plate for protection.

Lipo's are small and light. You can run them about anywhere and make up for the weight that you add up high by adding weight to the wheels very easy without hurting anything.

I would think that run time does not have to correlate to another's due to load. Since running on different surfaces could vary battery life. Hell hook some up to your rig and drive til it shuts off, that's another thing to think of, are you running a battery shut off. How many other servos are you going to use. What speed controller? All have different circuits that do the same thing but could vary in resistance. Binding you rig up so the wheels are locked up uses more energy. Drivers vary so runtimes have to vary. Pic a good battery and have fun, money is not an object when the fun value is great enough. Ask any one in Vegas Or RCC

I run A123 3s 2300mA batteries. The triangle shape ties neatly onto the rear axle. Run time is well over 1.5 hours. I usually just put them on the charger after that and they are ready to go in 12-15 minutes.

One thing to remember is that motor turns, notwithstanding driving style, will consume the bulk of your batteries capacity. So, if the motors are of equal quality, a higher turn motor will do the same work and consume less current.

I doubt you'll find run times are an issue with crawlers. This, of course, is true if you buy a good, reputable brand battery. Garbage batteries will give you garbage performance. Many brands mentioned here are excellent!

I'm running a 3S 20C~30C 2100 mAH Zippy pack from Hobby City.

Size is perfect and between it's C rating and the capacity of the cells, it will survive any spikes in amp draw that some of the lower capacity packs can't absorb regularly w/o effecting the life span of the pack.

Weight: 187g
Size: 100 x 34 x 24mm

About 20 minutes, but remember I am talking about a Competition setup.

Courses are usually about 5 minutes.

Everything you said is true....I just didn't want to carry around another 100 grams.

Unfortunatly everything comes at a price, and if you want something you got to give up something

True enough, but for the majority of us who don't get our packs from a sponcer, pack longevity is an important factor.

I'll take the extra 3.5 ounces and save a little $$$$.
