Curiuos is the servo actually waterproof or just splash proof. Also the esc is it the same. can it handle crawler motors?

You would think that somebody would make a esc/servo that IS waterproof if so many of us want them.

LRP makes several fully water proof ESC's and have for many years. They are 100% waterproof. XRC tested one a few years ago by running it submersed in a glass of water. I've used them in boats, mud boggers, and other wet applications without issue.

However the BEC's in these speed controls are not good. Single servo setups are okay, but anything over 333 oz/in or running 2 servos will require a BEC. They say 5.5V/3A but I was unable to run a JR 8711 with one w/o a BEC.

I have built sealed radio boxes for my crawlers that work just fine for waterproofing. As long as you're not going fast the ESC doesn't generate enough heat to be an issue. If your thinking mud bogging with a 19T then putting the ESC in a sealed box is out of the question.

I was considering picking up the traxxas combo and use it to save a few bucks and get me started. On ebay I,ve seen them pretty cheap and that traxxas waterproof servo is only 30 bucks or so. Just wanting my cake and eat it too no harm in that huh?
