Default Super Rooster versus Tekin Titan

I have a Super Rooster on one clod axle truck hooked to 55t lathe motors and it runs great.

Just bought a RTR truck from a guy with a Tekin Titan clod axle truck with Saphire 17t motors and it runs great, yes faster than the lathe motors and the run time is much smaller too.

So what's the differance in these ESCs ? Pros cons etc...

The differance you're seeing is the motors.the titan is a very good esc.don't have a sr to compare my titan to.i've ran mine in my clod with 10 cells w/16t motors and the titan never got hot, barely warm and this was in august on a very hot day.my battery pack got hot but not the titan.now i haven't ran it this way much as i'm not that much of a speed freak mostly run 8 cell or 6 cell packs.i wish tekin would bring the titan back.much better then the rebal.sorry i don't know what the bec is.

It's all about the BEC circuit.

SR 6 volts, 3 amps

Titan 5 volts, 1 amp

If the BEC is of no concern, then I suppose it doesn't matter?

Cool link, I'll save that. But what's a BEC ?

Aother question, seems both these ESC will handle 10 cells, I got two 9 cell 3300 minh battereys with this second truck. How will they affect crawling with the lathe motors? I'm sure they'll go faster but will I still get my low speed control and long run times?

BEC is the Reciever Battery Eliminator Circuit. It allows you to run your servos and reciever off of your main battery. For crawling apps you want a monster BEC so your servo(s) will have plenty of power.

you will get shorter run times do to the higher voltage.more volts=higher amp draw from the motors.your motors brushes will ware out faster.and you may be going to fast for crawling unless you use smaller pinions to compensate.you should still have controll of the speed, just you'll more of it.and keep an eye on motor temps as higher volts and higher rpm's may make them run hotter.
if your not having steering issues with the tekin no sense on changing it

Ahh, I see! Guess I could keep the Tekin Titan on one truck and use a batterey pack for the servos? Goal is to end up with two trucks running for me and son.

Been swapping some things around and the Tekin Titan does not seem to like the lathe motors without the capacitors? It ran great with the 17T motors that had the capacitors soldered on... side note, the Super Rooster ran fine with lathe motors without capacitors...
