help with new DX6i

I just picked up a DX6i. I see some of you use this radio. Anyone able to share any tips with me for setting this up? I have been checking it out, and I see that throttle curve seems to only be available in heli mode? Do most of you use heli or Plane mode on this radio? Is one better for a crawler than the other? Thanks for any advice.

I use a Heli version of the DX7, only 'cus I had it. I would definitely use the heli version if I had the chance, the heli radios have a smooth throttle stick, the airplane radios have a ratcheting stick.
