LiPo w/ Novak Brushless Goat Crawler

what batterys are you running with your brushless goat? it says "Input Voltage: 4-7 Ni-Cd/Ni-MH cells (1.2V/cell) or 2S Li-Po cells" so is it max for 2S cells? next question is how many mah would you suggest, maxamps is saying 860mah. Any idea on how long that pack will last? Note: Im also looking for small size, so what is the min Mah you recamend (sp) Thanks.

I am running a 2 cell 7.4 2000MAH lipo with my goat. Get around 40 min run time.

XDR 09-07-2008 10:01 PM

are you running it in a saddle pack or 1 stick? where do you have your battery? you like the performance of the LiPo over NiHm?

JeepinItReal 09-07-2008 10:27 PM

I run a 5000 mah 2c li-po with my goat and the run time is absurd:shock:! i can get almost 2 days on a charge. honestly its alot more than my rig needs.

I just ordered the Goat and a Maxamps 2s 1550mah lipo. Hope to have them this week.

I was searching and found this post.

So I am new to the whole lipo thing but its time.

What configration are you guys running? Saddle packs?

And I am running TLT axles

Psygho 12-02-2008 04:53 PM

gearing 12/93 goat 18.5bl zippy 1600mah, and almost 75 minutes runningtime.

Stormin2u 12-02-2008 05:07 PM

The goat will preform equally well with either a NiMH 7.4v or a 7.4 2c Lipo
the preformance is the same it's a matter of preference. I ran 7 cells the first season and couldn't tell the difference from the 6 cell packs 7.4 2c lipos.

The most amazing thing about the Goat system is it's amazing preformace at lower voltages.

Volt down gear up."thumbsup"

I'm running a R2D with a 17 tooth pin plenty of tourqe and insane wheel speed.

So I am going to assume 7.4 volts is as high as I wanna go?

Sorry I haven't had time to research the whole lipo thing so I am kinda unknowledgeable on the subject...

I am currently running 7 cell 2/3a pack

With a NiMH cell you run 7 cells no problem you can actully run more but you will shorten the life of your Goat system.

I will say I didn't find any real difference bettween 6 and 7 cell preformance with my Goat so for the second year of using the system I only ran 6 cell saddles.

You don't have any other choice with a Lipo but to run 7.4 v 2S pack your only choice will only be the mah. A 3S pack would jump you to 11.1 v and that woul kill your unit.

I'm actually running a JP Custom 35x1 Warrior brushed motor at 11.1 v for the 2009 season my Goat is going into a scaler project.

Excelent--thank you for the info----you gave me what I needed. Now to just figure out where to get em and what charger :ror:

Stormin2u 12-04-2008 09:12 PM

If you have a 12 volt power source www.cheapbatteries .com has a great charger the Elite 5i and some good deals on batteries.

JAM MaxAmps.com 12-05-2008 07:10 AM

That is one nice thing about the Goat Systems the 2S limit does give you more 2S battery options for where you decide to place the pack. Charlie is still running their Axials on the 860's they got from us well over a year ago now. If looking for a charger check out the Hyperion EOS0606i AC/DC Balance charger. Both we at MaxAmps.com and Holmes Hobbies sell it and it's a perfect choice for your crawler pack needs.
