Default Need help Castle bec

I have try to wire it up like it shows. Did work would power up everything but when I try to move the truck it would shut the reciever off. Then wired it up just to the + and - of the servo, and hooked the red wire back up to the esc and now my servos are gliching real bad. I have try 2 Castle bec's on 3 different trucks, 3 different reciever, and 3 different speed controlers. 2 of the recievers have been ar6000 and the other has been a 3000 all on mamba 25.
Any help would be nice.

Pull the orange wire out of the bec and plug it into the receiver. Then take out the red wire that is coming from the speed control.

On my setup, when I started using a spectrum receiver I had to change the way it was wired or I had issues with the receiver shutting down.

All of the wires from the ESC are now plugged into the receiver (like if you don't have a BEC), so the ESC powers the receiver.

Now only the signal wire from the servo is connected to the receiver. The servo power wires are connected directly to the BEC output. This way the BEC is directly powering the servo. Then the signal wire coming from the BEC is not used.

This fixed it for me.

I thought it could be done this way but I have never tried it. I didnt want the fire to be my fault.

What battery are you using? The castle BEC will shut down if the voltage drops below 4v, and yes, 6 Nimh cells will drop that low under load, if only for a second. Even sub-C's will do it.

Did you ever find a fix ??? I'm having the same problem with the AR6000 shutting off when I try to use a JR 9100T for front steering on my super.

Could be a bad servo.

Toytech, you are using a CC BEC? What main pack?

The servo is new, it was on my mugen truggy for only 2 races. I'm using a cc bec with a 3s 2200mah 20c. The setup was working good with two TP 946R's. But I need more front steering torque. Could I power the 2 steering servos with 1 BEC thru a Y harness and power the reciever with the esc ? OR put the 9100T on the BEC and power the other thru the mamba max ?

well, problem fixed. I powered the 2 steering servos with 1 BEC thru a Y harness and powered the reciever with the esc. Works like a champ!

think i might have a fix to your problems. I was poking around the CC website and saw this under info about the BEC.
http://www.castlecreations.com/products/cc_bec.html

C BEC/SPEKTRUM COMPATIBILITY INSTRUCTIONS

Castle has learned of a slight incompatibility of the CC BEC with the SPEKTRUM AR 6100, 6200, 7000, JR 790 ScanSelect, and JR 2100 ScanSelect Synthesized receivers. There is a very easy work around for our customers who already have the CC BEC and we are making modifications to the components of all new CC BECs that are built from Nov. 1, 2007, forward.

The simple explanation is that the CC BEC, like most Castle products, is designed to be USB linkable via the signal wire on the servo connector. As part of that, the CC BEC will pull the signal wire to ground unless it is sending a signal on that line. Nothing out of the ordinary with this. Similarly, the Spektrum team designed these receivers to look for a grounded signal pin on the battery port in order to initiate binding. Nothing strange there either. Castle does something similar with our Berg receivers. The problem is that the two designs result in the CC BEC triggering the receiver's binding mode immediately upon power up. We have redesigned the CC BEC to facilitate the USB activities without initiating the binding mode.

For those of you with the affected CC BECs and Spektrum receivers there are at least three solutions:

Remove the orange signal wire from the CC BEC RX power lead before you plug the lead into the battery port on the receiver.
Plug the entire/intact lead from the CC BEC into any other port on the receiver.
Use a "Y" connector to plug the entire CC BEC lead into any port other than the BATT port on the receiver.
If you are unsatisfied with any of the above solutions, please simply send your CC BEC to Castle for upgrade.

Please note that this incompatibility will be immediately apparent. There are no known issues after the system is successfully powered up.

Thanks!
Team Castle
