Has anyone ever used these servo's from Hobbycity.com? I found this ESC and it is metal geared, and has a rating of about 219.5 oz/in at 5.2 and I am guessins about 250 at 6.0 Do you guys think this a good servo for the price? http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s.../15.8kg/.17sec

I think you are better off supporting a local vendor with a better price.

You must be illiterate OR you just don't read. Here is what your Xtreme RC site says:

"With the introduction of the all new, Towardpro MG946R we will no longer be carrying the Towerpro MG 945. The MG946R has a little more Torque and a little faster Operating speed"

Thank you

You're calling other people illiterate yet you posted asking about an ESC with metal gears?

You seem to have all the answers so why don't you just buy it, wait a while for shipping, then hope you don't have a problem since the customer service will be almost non-existant.

True... I was thinking Servo and wrote ESC... Pretty close to not being able to read.

Yea, customer service may be nill, but if it is the same product, should I really need it.

I just bought a batt from them and get it in 5 days.

I was just curious to see if anyone else tried their servo's... Not the TP ones, but I am really glad I found out about the TP servo. You really added a TON of tech to this post.

I read this thread with interest because I happened upon HobbyCity just yesterday while looking for servos. What's funny is that this thread went right off the rails right from the get go

The OP did not post a link to TowerPro/TowardPro servos but rather a completely different unit - HD-9150MG's. The TPs are rated for 12 kg/cm the 9150s (not even a TP brand) are rated for 15.8 kg/cm and are slightly faster. They also sell for 33.00 at Hobbycity - compared to 11.00 for the MG946R.

9150: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s.../15.8kg/.17sec

946R: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...h_Torque_Servo

Yesterday I started looking for some 946Rs and I first went to JPCustoms but they haven't had any in stock for some time. Then I found the Hobbycity site and decided to gve them a try - I thought at 11.95 what the hell. Plus shipping for two servos was only 7.00 - which is great for around here (Tower Hobby would've asked 19.99 shipping for similar items - ) Shipping to me in Canada is also often quicker from China than the US - don't ask!

After I made the order for the 946Rs I came across the 9150s and thought they looked like something to try so I ordered up one of them as well. I know you can't always trust the customer reviews but have a look at what people are having to say about them - you never know, maybe they are the next best thing

At 11.95 a pop, I'm really not worried about customer service, so that wasn't even a consideration when ordering from Hobbycity. When it comes to things like servos, I usually take the darn thing apart to see if I can fix it myself, bugger it up even worse and void the warranty altogether .

I'm still not convinced that there are any real differences between the TowerPros and the TowardPros or the TowerPOS - just a slightly different label. I've got 5 TP units at home from a number of places and when you take them apart, they all have the exact same parts. Sure, right now I'm running two HiTower servos - Towerpro gears in a Hitec casing - the TP gears just dropped right into the 5645 casing.

I'm really curious to see how the 946Rs compare to my old 945s and I'm even more curiosu to see how the 9150 works out.

TowerPro vs TowardPro:

According the xtreme rc website: "As you can see the name (TowerPro) has been changed but it's the same company. The change was only brought about to make the name less similar to other brands on the market."

Not sure what this means, but it could indicate that TowardPros are actually TowerPros (if that really matters)
