Default Novak 55t strange ratcheting noise

Just installed a Novak 55t into my AX10 tonight, and whenever the motor is in reverse, a ratcheting noise can be heard. Sounds similar to a ratchet wrench continuously being turned. The motor is quiet when going forward. Is this normal?

Guys, you can always email steve@teamnovak.com with questions about Novak products. Charlie is on vacation this week, so I am recommending that you contact Steve in his absence.

it is simply brush noise. The brush hood is probably a touch oversized for the brush. No reason for concern, and if you want to quiet it down take a file to the backside of the brush and angle the brush a bit.

Thanks for the replies. I gave it some thought this morning, and I had a similar hunch that it had to do with the brushes. If that's the case, I'll leave well enough alone. Thanks again.
