does anyone know if Ace or homedepot, lowes, or batterys plus, might carry battery shrink wrap, I like getting things local, and my lhs doesn't have any:-( or do you know of any practical application that the same material is used for?

Back in the day we used to buy it at the hardware stores. It was called handle repair shrink tubing. It was very strong compared to battery shrink tubing but only came in yellow. Maybe go to Lowe's and places like that but look in the gardening section.

Electronics stores sell many types of heat shrink tubing. I was in one yesterday getting some, not for batteries, but they had that too. Ask a geek where he gets his switches and resistors they will point you there

Radio shack should have some, I'm a little curious why a HOBBY SHOP wouldn't carry shrink wrap, but thats just me. Also if you need smaller shrink tubing, check out your LHS and see if they have Integy shrink tubing, they sell a huge assorted pack of it for like $3.
