So does this mean that your awesome esc is going to be senored ?

Which crowd is this motor targeting ?

You bet the ESC is sensored.

This motor will work for crawlers, robotics, and rock racers. Probably best suited in a shafty that needs big HP. This would also be a kick ass motor for a super that needs big torque and drag brake.

One step closer!

Parts for the first big prototype run. sot-23 size sensors, caps to smooth the sensor power, and our little sensor plug. Boards are done. I send these off to the hand assembler today and we will get some motors running for the team to destroy soon!

First batch of motors is 2000kv. I'm hoping I got the board layout right so the phase wires are arranged ABC

What's the equivalent winding turns of the 2000KV rating?

Thank you for the update JRH! I am so excited to switch to sensored brushless outrunners! Brushed motors suck. I'm tired of re-building them. Outrunners have such awesome torque. Keep up the great work

I assume you mean compared to a TorqueMaster 540? About a 30 turn more or less. The Revolver S can be run on 2s lipo without a large torque loss though.

Thanks! I'm hoping we can scale this down, but the size of the parts makes it difficult to cram even SOT23 parts in smaller motors without getting dirty signals. I already have a design ready for scaling up too. Who needs a three pound sensored motor

I wish we could have had this done years back, but alas I'm not made of enough money to just throw at the problem so I had to learn the entire process of generating Gerber files, pick and place files, and engineering the sensor board from scratch. Easy to conceptualize, harder to execute!

I remember reading this whole thread back when I first thought about getting a crawler a year or so ago. Its nice to see that this is actualy happening. It kinda seemed like it was too far fetched and probably wasn't going to become a reality.

How much roughly are these guys gunna cost? Also will it be possible to waterproof the sensor board?

sensor board will be waterproofed, no question about that!

The final price is going to depend on the sensor boards. Without sensor boards the motors end up being almost $80 with the recent magnet price hikes, there is a lot of magnet inside. I'm hoping I can keep the final price below $100 each with automated board production. After the first few rounds I will do a "Stubby" model that will be lower in power and price.

I am ready for my 3rd brushless MOA build, I am hoping that you have something like size 400. If you have, put me in the list for 2.

Sweet Yeah I was thinking about 100 bucks. Seems reasonable.

x2, the steps between an idea and a finished product are quite tedious with electronics.

Any news on the in runners?

This is sweet John get ahold of me on this, I'm ready to test in my wraith. Just getting ready to pull the trigger on a Tekin 4 pole 4x4 sensored 3300. Now I'm thinking about waiting to see what you can come up with.

Later,
Farmer

Mmm.. still awaiting these JRH. Is it still too early for comparisons to other brushed/sensored inrunner motors? Just to give an idea what would work in certain situations

Awesome, any chance it will get any faster than 2000kv?...something good for a tekin 13.5t replacement? Cutting more than 3 oz out of my chassis would be sweet.
