OK, I am at my wits end. I did call HH today and talked to a helpful rep to try and get me through some of this aggravation.

My setup is as follows:
32p gears, 9t pinion, 60t spur. Stock 38/13 front gears, under-driven 43/13 rear gears. All metal geared transmission (recently rebuilt, spins smoothly), 1:1 GCM t-case recently rebuilt (spins smoothly), front and rear terramod axles recently built (spin smoothly). 1.9 Pitbull Growler tires (4.75" tall). Castle MMP esc, HS7950TH servo, HK-TR6a(v2) receiver, hacked FlySky GT3C trans.
Truck weighs 5.5#'s.

Receiver is new but does have a few hours of run time on it, transmitter is less than a year old and has been flawless. Trans and receiver have been run together on several different vehicles (rally car and scale rig)

I have gone through more settings on this mmp to try to find something that works like I think* it should, its not even funny! If I can keep the motor spinning its ok, but as soon as it stalls (or stops moving), forget it! in my mind I should be able to crack the throttle and have this thing creep over EVERYTHING! and it does not. I am also having a glitching issue (but lets work on one problem at a time.)

I have a BEC, but I am not currently running it. I am also doing my "testing" inside on a smooth floor, without touching my steering at all! (think creeping straight to the toe of my shoe and trying to "as slowly and controllable as possible" crawl over it.

I am beyond frustrated. I have messed with timing advance, sensored and smart sense mode, even ran it with out the sensor wire just to see! I have swapped motor wires (I mean hey, some one could have got the colors wrong!) I am geared WAY lower than other guys that have these motors, and I still cant get it "just right".

I am waiting for a return call from John-

thoughts?

I'd add the bec and try another sensor wire. You should not be able to swap motor wires in sensored mode.

Does it act like this video or this video?

It turned out I had a bad sensor board (it actually ran better without the sensor wire attached). When I pulled the throttle, it would start to "jitter" badly, and then all of a sudden start up very fast. Once it was turning it ran great, but startup sucked. HH sent me a replacement board, and it now runs much better.

Definitely add the BEC, then if it still isn't working well, I'd suggest the following to troubleshoot:
1. Try a different sensor cable
2. Try a different sensored brushless motor using the same rest of the setup

If either of those works, you have your answer (bad cable or bad motor). If not, it could be ESC, receiver, or transmitter.

I'm running the Revolver with MMPs in 2 different rigs, both much heavier, and it's very smooth (not to mention very torquey). Keep us posted.

My iPhone is being goofy, follow this for the YouTube video. If someone could post it for all to see in this thread that would be great.

it is either your combo of phase wires, or the sensor board alignment is off enough to cause the issue yet still work. I know that sound by heart Feel free to send it in and we will get it running.

You could have a bad phase on the esc, a different motor or sensorless test would show.

JRH, should I just unplug the sensor wire and run it like that or plug in the mmp and change the setting to sensor-less?

L.R.

Edit: when you say a bad phase on the esc, what exactly are you talking about?

Unplug the sensor wire and try. By bad phase I mean bad phase, if you don't understand then don't worry. That's our job!

Sounds like your esc is toast. I would stop testing before you smoke a motor or battery.

Swapped in a different esc, it's all good!!! Whew I was starting to worry! Looks like buying a used mmp off the classifieds here wasn't the greatest thing after all.

I am sure you guys had no doubts but the glitching went away 100% when I added the CC BEC. (at least with the 2 minute indoor test I just did)

this little revolver has some silly good low speed control. I drove it for 20 mins today and it did get warm however. Is that normal?

If you're running a MMP, make sure it's set to smart sense mode with normal timing. Cheat mode will heat it up and significantly reduce efficiency. I can't speak to Tekin or other ESCs.
