Bummer, you should start your own factory.

I am thinking I should. Stuff won't be nearly as cheap as overseas factories though. Catch-22

I know it would be a pain, but what about multiple factories? Get one to make the outrunner and then send it to a sensored motor making factory and get them to do the sensor work?

Back around Christmas I talked with Joe Ford about this sensored outrunner idea that I had. He was having the same manufacturing problems you are having so castle called it quits. American made sounds fine to to me Hell send me a PM and I'll help you hand Build some. Isn't hand built better in the LoNG run anyway

As for the sensors being mounted, the metal plates where the copper winding is around, would it harm operations if you were to weld a bracket for the sensors, like a small bucket with a dab of liquid electrical tape? Or how you had them in the first proto, inbetween but ditch the hot glue for a rubber cement type of adhesive to make it a little more "shock resistant". I will be trying this as well in the near future, couple of hk out runners, and a couple of hk sensored systems. If I can find a way to do this myself, with existing products, I'll be more then happy to share with you. Just to see a production that I helpped with .

Also, do you think a heavier can would help with this issue? I understand a lighter one would be ideal, kind of like a flywheel. The lighter it is the easier to get through rpm. The heavier and it holds it's momentum more.

And your experiances are true to the saying,
"If you want something done right, you'll have to do it yourself"

Yes, just sent off (another) technical diagram to a factory today. Proto 5 and 6 in works. Maybe one day they will interpret my CAD and diagrams properly? Only two years in the making?

PS: Multipole theory for the win. All this engineering study will pay off one day. PLC? CADCAM? BLDCSCOMMUTATION?

And finally, I have a working prototype that I didn't have to build myself. Ok, so I had to wind it, terminate it, reposition some surface mount parts, and position the laminations properly. I didn't have to run the CNC and glue the lams myself, Ha! But I have the smoothest crawling outrunner in the game....

People at Nats will get all the test drives they want. Now to wait on the updated PCBs that I ordered to ensure that I don't have to go through all this again. If all goes well I will have the new motor in production shortly. Then there are 3 or 6 other brushless designs and two brushed motors to complete. You guys think this is cool, just wait for what is next.

I still need to clean up the wiring, right now there are 11 wires coming out of the motor . I will get some vid and pics this weekend at Nats. By looking at it, you couldn't tell it was anything other than a normal Revolver unless you really looked close.

Badass! How well would one of these work in a losi comp crawler?

It would likely be too slow for the losi unless you got rid of the gearbox, the fastest I would want to push the design is around 16k rpm. What are the worms, around 30:1?

One of the next inrunner designs will be better suited for the task. The nicest ones will be capable of 60k rpm officially, and 100k rpm unofficially.

Losi worms are 25:1 to the best of my knowledge.

Yes yes, that is right. I searched high and low and just couldn't find it. It would be possible to get rid of the tranny and put this in the middle, although a special design would be needed to keep start up speed nice and slow.

100k rpm Whats gonna happen when it blows up in my crawler. lol

Glad to see you finally got it working, now we need a esc that can handle both 2 motors for an moa brushless crawler, have a built in dig, if my research is right its called like a double loop pi generator or something like that, this will cancel out all the unwanted stall also so we won't have to be worrying about unwanted clod stall, although i have gotten used to it but it would be nice to go back to a pistol grip and it would be the last feature of my miw (motor in wheel) crawler i have all planned out
