Yay...my Novak Rooster Crawler ESC & Motor (55t brushed) Combo came in the mail today, and on my birthday no less! This is, without a doubt, the best rock crawling setup on the market today...with a close second being the Novak Goat Crawler ESC & Motor (21.5t brushless) Combo. Among all the excellent ESC features is the instant-reverse function, where there is zero delay between forward and reverse, so that if the truck starts to flip over backwards, you just stab reverse to pull the front end down very quickly...it can be programmed with a delay, though, if you want one. It also has a 6v output for a cooling fan, which I already have. Anyway, check the Novak website if you want more stats, here are some pics... Click each image for a larger view: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I will hopefully be able to start building the new truck very soon! ;)

Happy Birthday! I have to disagree with your "best crawling set up" comment. I run a Rooster CE with a fan in my Super. The drag brake is just right for that size and weight rig, but I have had some glitching issues with it, as have a lot of other drivers. I like it, but I am far more impressed with my Tekin FXR, which you can also get as a combo with their 55T motor. The direct programability alone, even without the Hot Wire link, never mind it's tiny foot print, make it superior to the orange bird, especialy in a 2.2 where the Rooster's drag brake can sometimes be a bit too strong, depending on the weight of your crawler. You'll be happy with your Rooster, but when you're ready for your next speedo, check out the Tekin FXR. Not trying to bring you down, just wanted you to see another possibility. Here's the link to kaetwo's FXR review thread: Kaetwo's Tekin FX-R Review... Last edited by CreepyCrawl; 11-28-2008 at 10:44 PM.

Thanks, man! You know, I actually looked at the Tekin setup, but have never had any experience with Tekin products...and have had tons of experience with Novak products, so I went that route. No worries, man, you aren't bringing me down...I appreciate your input, as I will be with input from anyone else!

i got a rooster combo as well , ran it all this year with zero problems. its a pretty decent setup! easy to get goin and reliable. 2 things i dont like are its limits on voltage and it doesnt do as well as i wanted it to decents.im currently running a mamba max/ccbec/45t and couldnt be happier!! this setup has sooo much adjustability via computer link, and i can run 3 cell lipo's and/or 6-12 cell nimh. very powerful esc i still have my rooster combo that will be goin in a scaler later this year.

The Tieken FXR is way better, but you should like the rooster as a beginer esc.

that was a fast change of heart! I think you will be a lot happier with the Tekin FXR. I had nothing but glitching issues with a Rooster and Goat system. I installed the Tekin into the same vehicle and it has worked flawlessly. | |

Yeah I see it's like $55 more. The only difference I see is it can handle down to a 10T, the cheaper one only handles a 12T. Is this the only difference?

The Pro is a little more efficient, and has a better 6volt @ 5amp BEC.
