| Exploding Lipos
Yeah I know, this isn't crawler related, but you guys know more about electronics than from any other forum, so I figured I might as well ask you. I have recently purchased a xxx-4 roller and now am in the market for something to power it. So far the Havoc Sport 8.5 sounds appealing, and I love the great price ($140 dollars). As for the battery, I'm in a sort of a dilemna. Will a 15C, 4000 mAh battery (60 cont. amps, 100 burst) be enough to power that 8.5 system? How about a 20C, 3200 mAh battery (64 cont. amps, 120 burst)? I don't need the best in power.. and I don't really care if they don't last really long.. I'm just wondering if they will explode or not.. |

Nope, Lipos dont explode. I would go with something a little bigger. About a 25C and a little bigger in capacity so you dont hurt em. A crappy lipo will perform like a Nimh... So you dont really get the benefit of the power unless you go with something decent. As of now, there are no better lipo's on the market than Elite. Their 30/35C product is hands down better than EVERY lipo manufacturer out there. Guranteed. And they're way cheaper than alot of the other places selling inflated priced lipos that are at the same time over rated. 88 bucks will get you a 5000mah 35C hard cased lipo, and it is literally the best cell on the market Second to none.

Thank you very much. I forgot about those Elite lipos. That seems like a very decent price for such a beastly battery.. I will have to get one for christmas! But for the time being, I think I'm still going to get a more budget friendly battery.. so at least I can run the thing. Between the two lipos mentioned, and other nimh for less than $45 dollars, what would you choose? (for a xxx-4)
