"You can't handle the truth!"

Most Brushless motors say not recommended for water use. So where did you read they were? Besides you want to drop $50 bucks or $25 bucks for something you are going to end up ruining.

None of the motors are waterproof. The BL will tolerate water better than the brushed. All water has some form of impurity and or some level of acidity. This is hostile to the brushes and the commutator. The bearings in both types will suffer water damage from the dirt and acid in the water. Neither one is likely to explode on contact. The TRUTH is if you run them in water they will eventually fail.

brushless will run just fine in water..........doesn't mean you should do it. Biggest thing is the tolerances in bl motors are so tight any particulate matter that gets in the case will usually lock them up pretty quick. Brushed will ware faster but with a little maintenance they will last a long time, I have been running the same integy 55t in one of my rigs for three years and submerged it almost every time ( we like to play in the water ) it's been out. Clean and lube it every time, new brushes once in a while and it just keeps on keepin' on.

Brushless will run in water BUT only the outrunners. I wouldn't ever try to run an inrunner epecially a sensored one in water.

Inrunners are fine in water too, but sensored motors don't like it as the hall effect sensors get all screwy.
