I have one... it works okay but the double forward for reverse and the lack of a drag brake sucks. Also, it only puts out 4.8 volts instead of 6.0 like a lot of the other ESC's so it doesn't run your servo's with as much power.

It will work for crawling but it's definitely not the ideal setup.

(this shows the non-water proof version, but they are the same)

It's put in a Slash and there is a reason why. Don't use this in a crawler because it will ruin your performance.

I've ran them off and on for a couple of years. It's not that bad of an ESC for a budget. You can get them cheap from E-Bay all the time. Matter of fact my sons Ax-10 runs one for now. Intill I get him a better ESC. I drove it yesterday in a Comp. Came in 1st on the 1st Course and 3rd over all. But it was acting up on me. But that was my fualt. I dumped Shock oil on it right before the Comp. I have just the Normal XL-5 not the Water proof one. If your going to see alot of Water and mud. I'd run it no problem. They are more reliable then the Moped ESC and can be found just as cheap.

The best ESC for the price is the Castle SideW...

Yes the double Tap Rev. Sucks, but you pay for what you get. I've never heard of the 4.8v to your Servo's. I run a MG946R on my sons truck with that ESC. It's pushing Panthers and weighted wheels just fine.

thanks for all the help. I just got a slash but its not here yet. Thats what its for as I have a rooter crawler in my crawler. I want to make it budget faster. I have some 6 cell packs to use. Its only to pass time between comps. I don't want to spend more on the motor and esc than the whole car. I got this one on Ebay with that deal last week new in box for 100 shipped. Don't really want to spend high 100s for the VXL kit or something. Any other suggestions?

I run the XL-5 on 8 cells in my rustler, It works great and the speed with the 8 cells & titan 550 12turn is great! however the motor burns out faster.
