| 6, 7, or 8 cells?
Well, I am tossing my sub-C cells for some 1500 2/3 cells. I am just wondering if I should build some 6, 7, or 8 cell packs. I have a tekin FXR and 55t motor in a modded ax10. I like a little run time, but am worried more about weight distribution. Also will one pack be good enough or should I build two? (I have two sub-c cell packs but only ever use one)

personally i have 6 packs that are 2/3a. they work great i can charge all my packs the night before and go out pretty much for 4 hours. 2 packs should do you good

| So I shouldnt worry about 7 or 8 cell packs? If 6 is the better choice than great it is cheaper that way anyways.

i used to run 6 cells but after using 7 and 8 cell packs, i have since broken the 6ers down to make larger cell packs. I wouldnt bother with anything less than 7 cells.

I have to say, I'm quite impressed you guys can get 30 mins of runtime out of these packs. If these are 1500 mili-amps cells, and you get an honest 30 min runtime, doing the math, you're crawler's average current draw is just 3 amps. That's insane, and almost outlandish. How much do your crawlers weigh and what is the gearing? I find that run-time incredible. I was thinking more like 15 or 20 mins tops, would be all I could achieve with my own crawler and these 2/3A cells.

Run as many cells as your ESC and Charger can handle. I run 9.6v and can't imagine anything less anymore

I would go with at least 8 cells. If your chrger can handle 10 go 10. I have 8 cells and would never consider running less. I am about to pull the trigger on going 11.1v LiPo cause my charger won't support more than 8 cell packs and If UI have to buy a new charger I am going all the way with the Hypirion ac/dc. Then I got to thinking if I am gonna get a charger that can charge LiPo's I might as well go LiPo iinstead of 10 cell NiMh. |

Ok, so build some 8 cell packs and dont look back. I have a FXR so it will handle 8 cells. I thought about Li-po's but the added expense of a new charger and batteries on top of that is more than I can handle right now. (I need some losi crawler shocks to dump these crappy axial ones)

Make sure you're ready to never go back. I have a scaler running 12 cells to a 7T puller. Now anything with less than 8 just sucks..

What's the life expectancy on these Elite 1500 2/3A cells? I was surprised to see CKRC lists it as 1 to 3 months? Is that right?

When running 8 cells or larger, will I have servo troubles? Will I need a BEC at that point?

From what I have read, at 9.6 volts, you might be okay with one servo. If you have another for a dig function, or rear steer, chances are you'll probably be needing an external BEC. If you have all three servos, then definitely.

I'm satisfied with the performance of a 7 cell with a 35 turn holmes motor. I don't think the Elite cells were designed with long life in mind as a top priority. I have one pack that does fine that's 6 months or more old, one pack pretty much died right off the bat. A couple more packs are ok that are a month old. |

I run 8 cells for my motor and run a seperate receiver pack for my receiver and servos. Truck runs forever has good punch and I dont have to worry about a bec. |
