Flip a coin.

But I would recommend 45t if you plan to run 4s as well. 35s will take it, but your pocketbook may not like it.

winds are how many times the copper is wound around the armature of the motor...

more winds = more torque less speed

less winds = more speed less torque

winds are just another term for turns. 35t is 35 turns/winds

thanks, makes sense.

How about timming ?

If I go with a set of 35's do I loose throttle fineese/smoothness ?

Also I plan on trimming weight off.

I run a 35T in front, and a 45T in back. I run a Bully, but principle is the same. Keeps the front turning more than the rear, turns tighter. Plenty easy to control.

35's will be smooth as long as you have the speedo set correctly and the motors are in good condition. My 35's are VERY smooth and low speed control and torque are great.

I run 35 turns-2 Mamba Maxs. I had 45's they were kick ass but the 35's are pretty much the same but more speed when I want it!!

The 35 turns on 4s will wear out fast. You are also likely to break parts unless you drive carefully.

What wears out fast? The brushes, the comm? I run 35's in my clod super on 4 cell A123, so I am wondering, so far they have been amazing!

I ran 45t brood handwounds on 4s in my berg. Perfect setup, but very very hard on the 3rd gears. To the tune of 3 in less than 1 pack of hard running. The 35t with 3s would be the same. The shock loading of the 3rd gear with high wheelspeed eats them. Now that there are aftermarket 3rd gears that might be different, but you will probably still need to be carefull. The trend is going to more and more wheelspeed. Its more fun. I think if your going to run 3s and 4s the 45t would be best. Lots of wheelspeed on 4s if the 3s is not enough.

With that being said, I am looking to pick up some 35t handwounds soon. But they will be run on 3s only. I like my 9 tooth pinions in my berg now, but with 45t on 3s there is just not enough wheelspeed for me. But I have become a wheelspeed freak. Here is my mini for what I want out of my Berg.

Thanks all,
I'll run 35's and a super light berg.

Exactly right Pat, the comm and brushes. Simply because they're spinning faster (when you're mashing the gas pedal). Higher RPMs, more wear and tear, thus, more maintenance.

The more RPMs, the sooner things wear out, the sooner the end of its life cycle. You can change brushes, but the commutator has only so much copper on it.

Some of the wear can be reduced by using softer springs, but then you sacrifice on throttle drag and torque.

Spin em fast, expect to service them every 30 minutes or less.

I can't say for sure about the differences in their motors (I've run the Holmes as well as Tekin Handwounds, but not CKRC's), but the level of customer service isn't even close to the same. If it's between the 2, stick with Holmes. You'll not be disappointed.
