Any good motor cleaner will work. Contact cleaner will also work well. Cow RC makes a good high pressure aresol that will blast all the crude out. To really get the motor clean its best to take it apart. I take mine apart and soak it with a kitchen and bathroom cleaner and use a tooth brush to scrub the can, bursh hood, and armature. Then i use dawn dish soap to get all of the grit out of the bearings. Put some dawn in the bearings and use the armature to spin the bearings until they spin nice and smooth. If they still feel gritty it is time to replace the bearings. I only clean a motor this way though when it is time for a rebuild. In between rebuilds a shot of motor spray is more then enough to get the job done. You can blow it out with an air compressor afterwards as well. Make sure to get a good lightweight oil to lube the bearings in the can. |

Or you could read through the stickies at the top of the page. Everything you'd ever want to know is there. |
