| Reccomend me a charger!
After going to a comp with a crappy quick charger that is all but quick, I'm in the market for a different charger. I run 6 cell elite NiMh packs in my comp rig, and 6 cell NiCd Stick Packs in my bashers... so I'm looking for a charger that will charge both. I'd like an AC/DC charger for conveinience. The plugs don't matter, as I'm sure I'll change them anyways... My only other requirement is that it it cost me less than 75 bucks... I've been looking at the Duratrax Onyx Chargers... particularly 210... Here's a link>>>>> https://www.tcscrawlers.com/DuraTrax...0-p-17261.html I know nothing about charging batteries... so I turn to the trusty ol' RCC for help! Thanks for any advice/recommendations... -Greg |

I'm very happy with my Super Brain 960. About 20 mins to charge a 1500 2/3 pack up and it has both AC and DC hookups. You can get them new on Ebay for about $50 I've seen.

I'd suggest spending a bit more now and pick up a charger and power supply that you can grow into and that will handle anything that you may ever want to throw at it. But, if you need to keep it around 75 clams, you won't find a better deal that the Onyx 230... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXTCK1&P=ML |

Coming from more of the plane side of the battery spectrum I really like a very full featured balancing charger that will charge just about anything. I remember my old chargers from the 1/10 onroad days 10-12 years ago, a Blinking LED and 2 or 4A charge selector, lol... that was "high tech". http://fusion-pack.com/productdetail.aspx?id=207&cat=88 This charger is $47, add the AC Adapter for $20... Within your budget shipped and it does Lipo, Nicd, Nimh, PB(Lead acid)... It has Cycling, so you can cycle your nicads to help get them back in to top shape, storage charge for lipo, balancing for lipo etc.. Comes with a ton of different plugs, Temp probe so you don't cook your batteries (has temp cut off), Has Mah Cut off (so if you got a battery that is broke and sitting there overcharging waiting to catch fire it will cut off at your designated "cut off" of mah in), timer cut-off(same thing, if a battery is taking more than the specified time to charge it will shut off to keep you from just charging it for hours on end rising fire etc)... Output is 5A. So if you are charging a Nicad 1500 pack, you can charge it very quickly. Built in fan etc.. Big backlit display with tons of information. I have 2 of the A6 chargers I use and wouldn't go without them. (different case, same hardware/software inside the case)... PS, I know if you look at my other posts, it sure seems like I'm pimping out his stuff... well I'm not trying to spam it or anything, its just very good product, great service, and the prices are hard to beat. And I think it hits your requirements just perfectly... I don't work for him, nor am I sponsored by him, but he is a friend, and RC enthusiast like us. |

Will have to check out fusion next time I'm looking for more lipo's. One of my cheap chargers is a Turnigy a6, similar to the one jason posted without the usb plug. $39+18 for a cheap power supply, That order with shipping was about $100 with 2 1300 zippy's...showed up four days after it was ordered. So far it works good charging the smaller 1500 and less lipos and the 2/3a packs. |

Get in touch with Holmes Hobbies in the verndors section and pick yourself up a Hyperion charger. They are by far the bast chargers out there...IMO that is.But they are very nice pieces and not bad on price either.

here is a charger you might want to look at for your budget and when you are ready you can do lipo batteries. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7028 power supply not included, but i am sure you have a power supply around or you can buy one for approx $15. |

I know you only want to spend $75 but for a total of $140 +/- a couple bucks, you can have a multiplex charger and dynamite 10 amp power supply. This is what I normally sell to hardcore racers and crawler guys all the time. Its a great little set-up that will even charge your 1:1 battery as well. But as far as the onyx line goes the 230 and 240 are what you want.

IMHO,the Hyperion EOS0606I AC/DC Charger is the most versatile and simple way to go. Works like a champ at the house or in the field. Doesn't cost much and it'll charge just about anything you'll ever need in a RC car or around the house. I use mine to charge everything from the AAA's in my TV remotes,D cells in my flash light to 4 cell lipos.
