My XL-5 quit working :(

Hello,

I was installing a 3racing winch last night and everything seemed to be going well. I installed a switch on my tq3. I tested everything and made sure it all worked. I spliced into the deans plug on my esc side of things for power supply for the winch. I was VERY careful not to allow bare wires to touch so as to cause a short when the battery was hooked up. Anyways when I went to give everything a try, the ESC showed green light for about 1 sec, then nothing. Now its completely unresponsive. I am guessing I somehow fried it, any suggestions (besides go buy a sweet ESC with the opportunity)? My concern is if I get a nice FXR or CC esc that when I hook it up it will fry it too. Don't know what to do, any pointers would be much appreciated.
