I'm all for anything that keeps me from having to do more soldering, but in this case I'm gonna say the solder pad's are just fine.

Too many people have too many different setups, some use deans, some hardwire right to the motor, some use bullet plugs, etc....

I"ll probably solder a short bit of wire with a deans for the ESC on mine, and a short pair of wires with bullet connectors for each motor.

This may have been asked. Whats the difference from shorting the motor and just cutting off its power?

Does shorting the motor hurt it?

Shorting the motor causes it to hold in place a bit stronger. It will still roll a little, but if you only cut the power it will roll more easily.

Doesn't hurt it.

I ordered one earlier this afternoon, can't wait to give it a shot!!

and @PapaGeno, it creates a dynamic brake where the motor is actually getting power, but it's power that holds the motor in place as opposed to spinning it forward or reverse. Most rigs can pull with the opposing axle with enough force to overcome the braking power of the motor, but a lot of people actually prefer a little roll in the rear. That is different than just 'shutting the motor off', as it just allows the motor to spin almost freely, thus, you get virtually no holding power in the motor you have shut off. Hope that helps

I thought I'd give everyone here a heads up if they want one sooner for cheaper.

I have a couple dozen units that should ship on Saturday May 2nd. But, I only have a few of them unsold. Once those go, they will be shipping May 9th. Also, once the planned May 2nd units ship, the Pre-Order Sale is going to be reduced or cancelled.

I'm all in for Deans connector. Most people hardwire because the deans is not an option. I like the plug and play so if it were to fail, 4 connectors and its out and a new one is in.

I've decided I will keep the solder pads open for whatever anyone wants. I figure that move people can wire what they want and how they want it.

PunkRC,

Got my package today. One important thing missing, the "wiring diagram".

I think I know what you're saying in your outline, but I sure don't wish to make a mistake and burn something up. A point to point diagram sure would make me feel better bout my electrical skills.

Thanks,
Hawk

Thanks Robin for the "wiring diagram" it sure makes me feel a lot better about my "electrical skills" or the lack there of.

Thanks again,
Hawk

Got my package of two Punk DIG units today. Looked at the bottom of the board and then wired up one of them on one of my Clod supers and lo and behold, it worked as advertised. No problems.

Good job Punk RC.

Looks like the solder pads are labeled in the pictures I saw.

Mine is clearly labeled on the board. Motor 1 + and - is front. Motor 2 + and minus is the rear. Esc + and - is the ESC.

Couldn't be simpler.

Yes, I did not include a diagram with the first orders because they would have been delayed. I am emailing all customers with the diagram soon. With the labels on the unit, however, wiring is really simple.....

Freaking love the idea, but I just got my dig switch box done for like 15 bucks.

That thing would sell like mad around 30 ish, but i personally dont know what its costing to make those. Im guessing if they are 50 they are costing at least 30 to make...

Great work Robin. I knew you were the guy for the job... I'm excited to get one in my rig.

Here is how I look at it. Why does anyone run an ESC when a mechanical speed control is avaliable? They cost 5-10X as much? But, the just fro a MSC to ESC is a dirrence in function. So I don't think this version will stop the DigAMaJigs totally.

It comes down to more than function, but reliability, install, etc...

My philosophy is you get what you pay for! Convenience, Reliability, and Service are worth paying for

I run a dual ESC set-up, and I may get one just to have as an emergency back-up
