| Diodes for Holmes 35T
Well i picked up my Holmes Hobbies 35T today. Before i install it, i had a couple of questions. Im running a Spektrum Rx and a Rooster Crawler for now, ami gonna need the diodes on it? Also, im running a DNA dig so i had to reverse the wires for it to spin properly. Should i do that with this motor, or just reverse it on my DX3R?

Never added anything to my hand wounds other than the Leads for the ESC to plug into. Never run them on any of my motors for that matter. As far as I know, switching the direction with the wires or inside the radio does the same thing. Personally,if I need to switch the direction,I always switch them at the motor where they solder on.

You won't use diodes. You would use filter caps, which are already installed.

| A diode is like a electrical check valve, it allows current flow in one direction but not the other. If you installed any diodes across the motor terminals you'd short it out in one direction, which would fry a reversable ESC. They're sometimes used with forward only ESC's for racing. Filter caps (capacitors) filter out electrical noise. When installed correctly on a motor they absorb a lot of the RF noise a motor makes, which reduces glitching. It's not really necessary with modern high quality radios and ESC's. Absolutely a necessity for AM radios though. |
