Default Spektrum Binding

I'm trying to bind my new Spektrum receiver and it won’t go into bind mode. I'm putting one into my slash and when I turn on the controller to the slash the green light blinks once and turns off. The Spektrum receiver turns on a solid red l.e.d. According to the directions it should be flashing (and yes I didn't mention that in indeed plug in the bind plug). Anyone know why this could be happening??

Do you have the Rx powered up, either through the pack that comes with it or via all wired up in the car?

Doesnt matter, as long as there is power going to it. I usually bind mine by themselves before they are hooked up to anything.
