Default PunkRC Dig Switch Video

Big Bear test drove one of my production dig switches yesterday. He was impressed with the product and I was impressed with his driving.

Well I took a video and just uploaded it onto youtube. It can be seen here and here on our store.

His use of dig is amazing!!! His use of dig made a impossible line possible. Totally awesome! Thanks!

Forgive me, but I'm a little slow sometimes. Is this unit using the 3rd ch pulse to energize/de-energize the relay for each motor to start/stop?

The unit is plugged into the third channel. If the channel normally moves a servo (1)Left, (2)Center (3)Right then this will instead (1)Turn off Motor #1, (2)Both Motors On and (3)Turn Motor #2 Off.

Make sence? So instead of moving a servo, you are turning on and off relays.

Most TX's are programmed to control a 3rd channel servo different. In this video, Big Bear uses a button to toggle to "click" the servo/dig switch into different positions.

Looking great Robin. I can't wait to get mine. Looks like the modifications you made did the trick.

Well, each mode has a "range", but for most respects, No it does not matter. You just need to make sure that it actually moves away from center more than a tiny bit (maybe 10°). A 100% throw is great!

Yeah, Big Bear really liked it. It locks them up really good, but still allows for a tiny movement. He said that is what is needed. It was awesome to see him really crawl with it too. I thought "Wow you couldn't have done that without dig"

If I have a 2 position 3rd channel (front dig only) can I set the dig switch to only use "both motors On" and "Turn Motor #2 Off"? Would I do this by setting the radio end points or just not connecting motor #1 to the dig switch?

My preference would be to connect both motors to the dig switch and use the radio endpoints. That way the wiring is cleaner and I don't need to change anything when I get a radio with a 3 position 3rd channel.

Thanks

If you can (maybe also narrow endpoints and) trim off center and make a servo move from a near center position to one side, then you are in luck. I will see if I can just trim my TQ3 to do this.

I'm sure you can get it setup just how you want. If not, I do accept returns.
