Default Sidewinder need a BEC?

I just tried to wire up my sidewinder and bec and its not working? In my other rig I run a rooster crawler and a 3s with the CC BEC and it works great. I hooked up this sidewinder and same bec the same way and I get nothing, well esc lights up and beeps but thats it,No servo turning or response to esc. I cut the red wire that goes to the rx to the esc,but I tried a standard 6 cell pack and touched the red wire back together it worked?
I hooked it up the same way as the crawler esc,black/red from bec to black/red power source,,,Cut red wire of esc to rx,and bec to battery slot on rx and works fine, just not with sidewinder, what am I doing wrong?

you cut it or just pulled it from the plug....i run a sidewinder and BEC and all i did was pull the red wire from the ESC plug and all is good to go....if you cut the red wire and want to run without a BEC your gonna need to solder it back together.........bob

I cut it,,like 2" before the plug that goes into the rx?
When you say pull it,You mean pull it out completely from the plug that goes into the rx? It makes a difference?
Also if you pulled it,then you wouldnt be able to adjust it with the castle link, would you?

Yes, just pull the gold connector form the plastic plug housing. Look at the plug and you'll see that one side has little tabs that hold the connectors in the plug. Gently lift the tab with tab with the tip of an exacto or a small screwdriver and pull the connector out. Tape the connector or hide it with some shrink tube to avoid shorts.

This way it is easy to slip the connector back in for use with a different configuration or with the Castle Link.

I use a CC BEC as well, but it does not power my receiver, just the steering servo.

HTH,

Dave

yup i have been just unpluging the ESC plug from the RX and hooking it up to the CC link and reprogram the ESC with no problem, but you will need to have your battery pluged in.............bob
