| servo upgrade question
i'm looking to upgrade to a much better servo but im clueless on what to get. im seeing digital, analog? i have no idea in what torque i should be looking for. and another question i have is. do some servos offer more throw than others. im seeing all these comp rigs with rediclous amounts of steering but the one i have now wont even turn the wheels as far as the stock axial axles allow. not sure if it matters but this is going on my 2.2 comp rig i'm builing. and i know i get what i pay for but ide like to stay away from the super expensive servos. ide say max ide like to spend is around $150 |

the JR 8711 is a solid servo and well under your budget. I want to say carolinasrc has them for a hair over 100 shipped. The Hitec 5955 is also a great servo and you can find them for a little cheaper. |

just did a little research on those servos. i keep seeing that they rate them at 6 volts. is there a reason for that. i notice alot of comp rigs run those BEC things. is that for the servo? do i need one of those too?

The 5955 is a nice servo but its a robot servo. I would go for a 7955. It is rated at 333@ 6v but they are coming out with a new one in June rated at 400 something at 7.4v. I have the 7955 and love it but will be getting the new one when it comes out just cuz I can lol. Plus Hitec has good customer service and repair just about anything no questions asked. As far as your throw issue is involved you need a good radio that has end pionts that goes beyond 100% to get all the throw out of most servos.

Bang for your buck you can't beat the Hobbico CS-170, it is a rebadged hitec 5995tg which is rated at 333oz with 6 volts and runs about $90, depending on what ESC you are running you may or may not need a Castle BEC. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNRN6 |

Looking into servo's right now also. I would suggest a bec or receiver pack to take the stress off the esc though,
