**noob as losi lipo qusetions...please help**

ok, so i bought one of these losi 1000mah 2 cell 7.4v lipo charger combos off ebay. never used lipos before. this is my first crawler (mrc). i used the battery straight out of the box without charging it for about 30mins and then it just stopped dead, nothing. have i over used it and stuffed this lipo?

if i havn't screwed it, how can check it to see how long i need to charge it for and how long i can use it for with my stock mrc esc, rx, motor?

thanks for your help, you've got a great forum hear. mitch (down under)

They normally come with half charge. Plug it in, should take about an hour or hour 20min to charge back up.

ok cool. sooo, i havn't screwed it?? how do i know when to stop using this with my stock electrics? your suppose to have special bec's and cut offs and stuff like that aren't you?

JohnRobHolmes 08-10-2009 07:58 AM

normally, yes you want a cutoff. As soon as you feel it get a bit slow or lose power you can stop and immediately put some charge back on if it isn't hot. Lipos dump pretty fast all at once.

I would get a cutoff or voltmeter. It is tough to notice a loss of power when you are on the rocks going slow. I dropped a 11.1 pack down to a very low level without even noticing, I now have a lipo ready ESC on the way.

Will it take a charge? Did you read the directions?

iRock 08-10-2009 04:24 PM

i see. the directions that came with it aren't very helpful, they're just warnings and cautions. i havn't charged it yet. should i put it on for about an hour and see? thanks for you help guys, most appreciated.

do the cut offs go between the battery and the esc?

JohnRobHolmes 08-10-2009 05:18 PM

In your case, yes the cutoff would ride between the battery and ESC. Sometimes they have a lead that goes to the radio to interrupt your throttle so you know when it is low.

thanks mate. you say that in my case it will ride between the battery and the esc, is that the case with the novak 2-cell smart stop cut offs? theres a few on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=350233431722.

so you have the little plug that goes into the esc and then theres the red and black wires- do they go into the battery connector or the receiver? do you have to soldier them on?

are these novak cut offs known to be good quailty? thanks guys, mitch
