|  how long b4 rebuild on brushed motor?
about how often do the brushes need replaces and it re-turned on a lathe on a puller or 35t handwound vs cheapo?

For maximum performance, you rebuild the motor after every run - that's what the top racers did before brushless took over. As an average club racer, I used to strip and clean my motors before every club meeting. Had to re-skim maybe every four weeks. Bear in mind that each meeting was 4x 5 minute heats, so that's a rebuild after less than 90 minutes running. I did the same for the 27T stock motors in my 1/12th carpet racer and the 10T motors in my B4 buggy. Obviously it depends on how hard you run the motor, and how dusty or wet the environment is. I'd clean the motor at the end of each day, and rebuild it when the comm looks burnt or grooved. I can't see why a handbuilt should need any more or less TLC than a "cheap" motor. |

A 55t lathe motor will run for a year or better on low voltage with no work. The more power you put through them, the faster they need rebuilding. It seems that the 35t handwound on 3s is the most popular, and also the most needy motor. Some people need rebuilding after just a few hours of runtime, but some people can get a season out of them. The Cobalt Pullers rarely need maintenance, the construction makes them last much longer.
