Default Glitching with New Castle Firmware

I downloaded the latest Castlelink software and updated my Mamba Max a few days ago. I used a notebook running XP and got an error when setting the drag brake. Set it to "crawler full on", went past the error, and updated my ESC.

The drag brake worked great. However, yesterday I had a few instances where my crawler lurched forward on it's own. Basically acted like I hit the throttle even though I hadn't. This happed about 5 times, two different locations, and after turning the rig and radio off and on.

I'm wondering if it's related to the recent firmware update, new drag brake settings, or something else entirely. It just seems very coincidental.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

EXW

I suppose any of the above are possible... all I can tell ya is that out of the 7 ESC's I've updated NONE have given me any problems EXCEPT for the bug that won't allow a custom drag break setting above 100%... I never though I'd say my CC ESC's have to much drag break

I am getting the same glitch since I re-programmed my mamba max yesterday morning. I tried swapping from an FM radio to a newer DX3R system thinking it might be interference........no difference, still glitches every 20 seconds or so if I am not on the throttle. I'll e-mail Castle and see what they say.

(I also got an error when trying to set the drag brake to "crawler")

Try making the deadband bigger.

OK, if 3 of us so far are getting this, I'm guessing it's related to the update. I'm using a DX3R also.

I don't think it's interference since the first time it happened was while I was out crawling. Then later it happened at my house. In some cases I wasn't even holding the radio, when it glitched.

Manning, good suggestion on the deadband, I'll give it a try.

I changed out the firmware to the 1.21 version and the glitching seems to have stopped. Using the latest Castlelink software, I was still able to set the "Crawler Full On" drag brake and so far, everything seems good.

So, if you have the glitching, try the 1.21 firmware.

You guys are not alone. I took a screen capture of the error message and sent it to Castle, here is thier reply

"Justin,
We're looking into this right now. Hopefully a simple fix. Stay tuned.

However I did set the drag brakes to 210% and its got a pretty good hold. Hopefully they will get it fixed.

IIRC, I still have the install file for 3.23 in my trash bin on my home computer. I can check when I get home and e-mail it to anyone interested.

Ok, I checked and I do have the latest 4 install files for Castle Link....all the way back to 3.19...the version where they increased the drag brake to 128%. I just reinstalled this version and updated one of my crawlers and the glitching is gone and the drag brake is back.

For those interested, send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll mail the file to you.

Well this explains alot, I've been updating as soon as I hear about a new version, and have suddenly got a glitching issue. I figured it was because my fm rx's antenna found the spur gear somehow and got cut off to about 6".(It was fine as long as you were within 5' range of it) I swapped rx's to the one that was in my Trail Rig & the F'n gitching got worse!!!, all along I've been updating my sidewinder...Hmm

I hope Castle gets this fixed FAST!

pretty sure you can turn the beep off.
I haven't updated just yet, but plan to anyway for the extra drag brake. I did notice with my scaler running a 7t puller that when it beeped the rig would start rolling if it was being held in place by the drag brake, so I was planning on turning that off anyway.
